Thailand Weather and When to Go
OVERVIEW
Weather in Thailand is divided into three major seasons, hot season from March to June, rain season from July to October and the cool season from November to February.
In general, the best time to visit Thailand is during cool season, when temperature stabilizes. The rain season in Thailand creates a diversified condition to Southern beaches and other areas. For example, when Phuket is at its wettest form, weather in Koh Samui may be more advanced with lots of sunlight and calm waves.
HOT SEASON: MARCH – JUNE
In March, the weather remains stable around Thailand with temperature rising into approximately 30°C, clear blue sky and sun-kissed beaches. This favorable condition lasts ‘til April, followed by a slightly increased number of visitors coming to Thailand, especially Bangkok since Thai people is celebrating their New Year. During these months, the rain is very little so that you can stick to various sea-journeys visiting Thailand’s marvelous beaches as of Pattaya, Koh Samui in the Central, Phuket, Krabi in Southern areas.

RAIN SEASON: JULY – OCTOBER
From late June or early July, rainfall starts to possess most territories of Thailand, followed by common temperature fluctuation. In Northern regions (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai), the downpours, strong wind and thunder storms become unpredictable, especially during September. On wettest days, Koh Samui or Huahin may be the best destinations to head towards, where the sun still shines brilliantly over the islands. However, travellers may to experience a few shoulders and unexpected storms during their trips. In late October, the rains seem less severe and temperature begins to drop. In fact, many people choose to visit Thailand at this time because the whole country is covered by a unique tranquil lush color.

COOL SEASON: NOVEMBER – FEBRUARY
From November, dry sunny long days finally return to Thailand. When winter approaches in December, early mornings and late evenings in Northern areas begin to cool off, followed by cold wind and low temperature (around 15 – 20°C). For beach goers, November and February are perfect time flocking to Khao Lak, Phuket and Krabi once again. There is slight chance of rain during this time, even in mountainous areas. The cool weather lasts shorter, merely few weeks in Central cities, so extend your time around the famous historical and scenic sites as you hardly can get tired even with continuous day-trip and extra transfer time.
