Southern Laos Highlights - 4 days

Pakse, the provincial capital of Champasak where the Mekong and Sedon rivers meet. Upon arrival wander the ruins of Wat Phu, a temple built by the Khmer during the Angkor era, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a highlight of Southern Laos

Head out to visit Tad Fane Waterfalls up on the Bolaven Plateau, known for its cool climate and coffee plantations. Drive further into the Bolaven Plateau to meet some of the local ethnic minority groups, and enjoy a pool break by Tadlo Waterfall before returning to Pakse for the night.

After breakfast, visit Southeast Asia’s largest waterfall, the Mekong River’s massive Khone Phapheng Waterfall. Continue to Done Khone Island, visit some of the remnants of colonial architecture here and view more of the waterfalls surrounding the island, some marking the border between Laos and Cambodia, and some popular if dangerous fishing spots frequented by locals.
